Me Stuff …
“Hi. My name is Edward Traxler. I was born on Groundhog Day in 1950 so I suspect my expiration date is on the horizon – darn it. I spent over 20 years in the US Army with a 15 year break in service between 1972 and 1987. I got to visit a lot of interesting places over the years that the Army sent me … Vietnam (1970-1971), Desert Storm (90-91) and OEF/OIF (01-06) … and all the bits in between including Germany and Korea.
After I retired in 2006 I ended up in South Carolina which I find a bit amusing as my sixth great grandfather John Traxler (Johan Georg Traxler) who received a Royal land grant for 50 acres in Orangeburg, SC in 1738.
In 2010 I joined my friends Gary Wise and Andrew Gillette to form a On30 module group which we brought to the 2011 Narrow Gauge Convention in Hickory, NC. When I came home I mounted my two modules on my bedroom wall which was the start of my layout that I still have today.”
Deep River Railroad
My layout is the “Deep River Railroad” .. named after a fictitious narrow gauge railroad serving the Deep River area of North Carolina. There is an On18 section of the layout called the “Deep River Coal & Coke” which supposed to bring coal to coke ovens. The coke is then carried by the Deep River Railroad.
