Engine Room Superstructure

Sitting on the deck above the engine room, this extends up a bit over 3 feet high for the skylight.

  • V1 – This was the original design. The deck width here in the deck dictated the dimensions of the superstructure footprint at ~3.5″/89mm (W) x ~3.75″/95mm (L). The skylight opening at ~53.34 mm (W) x ~41.55 mm (L). There are shoulders to sit on either side of the opening so the skylight width was ~57.6 mm.
  • V2 – When I made the steam engine larger and the opening larger, the superstructure ended up 93.853mm (W) x 106.824mm (L) with a skylight opening of52.924mm (W) x 95.504mm (L).
  • Skylight – the purpose of this Engine Room Superstructure is two fold — Support the Skylight and the Cowl Ventilators. Here we can look at said Skylight.
  • Cowl Ventilators – either end of the ERSS is a Cowl Ventilator. There is a short and tall version with a mounting boot at the bottom.
